"Naija's journey in the Veil has brought her to a odd looking building that reaches high above the surface. It's dark in the halls, and only rumbling sounds of slowly spinning cogwheels can be heard. The further she goes, the brighter it comes and she sees statues of humanoid beings. She wonders who they are and where they are now.
The Lumerians had left the waters of their birth long time ago for the bright, warm currents of the Veil. Awed by their new surroundings, many of them came to worship the great sphere of light known as "Sun".
With their adventurous spirit came new ingenuity - they learned to design and build elaborate mechanisms, like water pumping systems, to survive in the foreign environment. Their temple rose above surface to be closer to sunlight, and they created artificial life, robots of all kind, to accompany them.
By the time Naija arrived to the temple Lumerians were no more. The God that had bore them became jealous of their sacrilege of creating new life, and in a blind rage destroyed them all. All that remains are mechanical animals that keep wandering in the temple, oblivious to the fate of their masters."
___________________________ Graphite pencil work, about 1,5 hours. Based on game Aquaria. This game still keeps me drawing, it's unbelievable. This Sun Temple -episode is one of the best experiences I had when playing it. The music ([link]) supports the mood of wandering around in the empty halls of once great civilization.
From few years you've start drawing Aquaria fan art until now, I'm really impressed. Got the iPad version for myself, and I always lost my time when playing it.
Will you draw more visual adventures for the future?
Hehe, thanks. It's a darn good game, after four years I still find myself listening its music. I swear I could stare the menu screen for hours and listen. I even prolonged finishing the game in '08 because I didn't want it to end, and thats really something.
I didn't quite get the last part - do I plan to draw more Aquaria fan art? Of course I will
Sounds very flattering, thank you . I simply love that game but it's quite difficult to illustrate underwater elements. So far I have tried several methods but well, haven't found the right one yet. Light and shadows are my favourite things, it's fun to draw with graphite pencil so maybe it's enough.
Thank you very much for the comment. It's been quite silent in this front, warm summer did the trick and general lazyness. How about you, busy in studies or travelling (I saw that photo in your gallery and can't really locate it in my mind. Is it far away from your home?).
Aquaria is such an amazing game, still it keeps dragging me to draw, and I recall that I bought it over four years ago. When it comes to doing fan art, this water element is still puzzling me after all these drawings
Hi! Apologies for my very late reply... I finished my studies for now and yes I was travelling around Europe in August. I posted a lot of photos there in my site www.chenyongyuan.com in the photography section in case you want to see... and there are full photo sets in my blog (still uploading). The last photo in my gallery was taken in St. Lucia, and I must say it's half the globe away from my home. So it's very far
Wow, you've been travelling a lot then. Beautiful looking locations, and _warm_ looking to boot (here it's been a cold summer, only 1/3 of the usual warm days summer usually has). St. Lucia! Caribbean! Lucky you
Haha. I understand your place I think. I've been to Norway once in summer and it was still quite cold. The Caribbean trip was my graduation trip and I think it was well worth it
Perhaps you should go somewhere too! It's fun to look around

Pity I don't have the Mod section in this game, otherwise I may try more fun with it so the game can last longer in my device.

Hopefully you're doing fine!
