FeaturedCommentsI think you are one of my top 5 favorite artists on DeviantArt.
Not only do I like your black and white style of drawing, but I also like that you mostly draw armors and weapons that are actually PRACTICAL, i.e. no oversized weapons, huge shoulder guards, or many other impractical fantasy equipment that is prevalent nowadays. No WoW-armours here, ha ha ha XD. I'm not an expert when it comes to historical accuracy in gear but I don't like "fantasy" looking armours or weapons. Or green bulky ape-looking orcs with protruding jaw + long fangs a la WoW or Warhammer. I joined this site just so I could comment here....with that being said, your depictions of the Tolkien universes smaller moments are amazing. Illustrating the adventure of Balin, the Battle of Nanduhirion, and the Battle of Dale are really good ideas. Those are some of my favorite side storys from the Tolkien universe. I would really love to see more Tolkien inspired illustrations by you.
They say that comments and critiques are "artist's reward" for his work, and I understand why. I appreciate this comment of yours very much, and I hope the future brings more illustrations from the rich world of Middle-Earth. I must thank all you people for your kind comments and support, and for making this possible (ideas and suggestions are always welcome).
How about illustrations of... the Battle of Mirkwood?...The emergence of King Thorin III 'Stonehelm' and King Bard II from the Siege of Erebor?...more from The Battle of the Five Armies?... Just some ideas and suggestions.
Good suggestions! There'll definitely be more illustrations from The Battle of Five Armies, as I have already few other The Hobbit -illustration sketches on my desk ('Thorin's farewell' is one).
The Battle of Mirkwood would be interesting, I haven't seen any illustrations from that event. Elves and woodmen fighting against beasts and orcs, sounds good. Or did you possibly mean the battle of Dol Guldur (White Council and stuff)? Thorin III Stonehelm... well, who knows. I doubt I'll leave any dwarf-theme unillustrated if possible Awesome, I would love to see the ones you have already. Thorin's Farewell is a classic moment from the Tolkien universe.
I meant the "Battle Under the Trees" when I said Battle of Mirkwood. The battle fought between the forces of Dol Guldur and King Thranduils people in northern Mirkwood, not the White Council stuff.....though that in itself would also be interesting. Also, I like the latest additions and congrats on finishing Balin, Lord of Moria. |
